Samsung Galaxy A02 and Samsung Galaxy M02 Leak: Certifications, Benchmarks, and More

Samsung Galaxy A02 and Samsung Galaxy M02 Leak: Certifications, Benchmarks, and More

The cheapest phones in Samsung’s Galaxy catalog are the Galaxy A01 and the Galaxy M01 (and their Core editions). The duo is soon to be refreshed with the upcoming ultra-budget, entry-level Samsung Galaxy A02, and M02. Both phones have been leaked in certification listings and synthetic benchmarks, so their official announcements shouldn’t be far off. Let’s take a look at the latest low-end, pocket-friendly Galaxy models.

Bluetooth SIG has already signed off on Samsung Galaxy M02 and A02, specifying their model numbers as SM-A025F and SM-M025G. The two phones later appeared on Geekbench, listed under those respective model numbers.

The Galaxy A02 bagged a Geekbench 4 score of 751 on single-core tests and 3,824 on multi-threading tasks. Its chipset isn’t detailed, but the processor is clocked at 1.8GHz. Speculation suggests it could be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 that matches the specs. The SD450 came out in 2017 and it’s older than the Snapdragon 439 that powers the Galaxy A01. The memory is still 2GB. Regardless, the performance was never at the center of these ultra-budget Galaxy phones.

The Samsung Galaxy M01 launched earlier in June 2020, featuring a similar compact, plastic design as the A01. Four months later, its latest addition to the Samsung price list aka Galaxy M02 features 3GB of memory (the same as M01) but a 1.8GHz processor (downgraded from 1.95GHz on the last generation). Geekbench 5 puts the M02 at 128 and 486 points on single and multi-core tests.

Given the internals remains more or less the same, it’d be fair to assume the design and build won’t be getting any overhauls either. Currently, any details beyond the certifications and CPU benchmarks are pure speculation.

Samsung has previously introduced two M-series model in Pakistan, so the Samsung Galaxy M02 should launch too. We’ll keep you posted as the story develops.
