We recently covered a new member of the Reno 4 series, the Oppo Reno4 Z 5G. It made an appearance at the FCC and Bluetooth SIG database, along with a rough sketch of its rear-facing shell that was essentially the spitting image of the Oppo A92s. The upcoming flagship secured the Global Certification Forum approval today. In the process, it revealed that the uncanny resemblance with the A92s is no coincidence, as the new Reno4 might be a renamed A92s.

Found both on FCC and GCF under the model number ‘CPH2065’, the Reno4 Z 5G features a 6.57” HD+ display, powered by an unnamed MediaTek processor with an octa-core CPU running the ColorOS 7.1.

The listing doesn’t give us much else aside from its 4,000 mAh battery capacity and the outline for the camera layout — four lenses in the orbit of an LED flash, stylized with another diagonal bump.

Juxtapose the details collected from the listings and the Oppo A92s that was released in China in April, and the findings are telling. Much like the Reno4 Z 5G, the A92s 5G has a 6.57-inch panel, MediaTek’s Dimensity 800 platform, and a 4,000 mAh cell powered by 18W fast charge. The screen, however, features an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate at a sub-flagship Oppo price.

The quad-camera array touched on above could use a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a pair of 2MP depth and macro sensors. Around the front, the display is cut out in a pill-style hole to house its dual 16MP + 2MP selfie camera. 

Oppo might switch the color palette, but if the Reno4 Z 5G is a rebranded model, it should arrive in 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage options. We’ll keep an eye out as the story develops.
